Gaurav Sharma’s Reason for Quitting the Hit Show ‘ Anupamaa’

The television series Anupamaa is poised to undergo a significant time leap of 15 years, resulting in the departure of several original cast members from Rajan Shahi’s daily soap to accommodate new actors. Manish Naggdev has been confirmed as the new Toshu (Paritosh Shah), succeeding Gaurav Sharma following the time jump.

Gaurav expresses, “I believe it is time for me to move on. I do not think I can convincingly portray the father of a 21-year-old and cannot take on roles that exceed my actual age.

I recall being typecast in negative roles after my initial portrayal, and if I were to play a father, I might find myself confined to that age category. I communicated my concerns to the team, and I am thankful they recognized my situation and accepted my choice. My experience with the production house has been remarkable, and I will certainly miss collaborating with them. Both Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Anupamaa have provided me with invaluable opportunities, and I look forward to working with the production team again in the future.”

When asked what advice he would offer to the new Toshu, he responds, “I ensured that I thoroughly understood the character. It is essential to comprehend the intricacies of a role, but it is equally important not to replicate the previous actor.”
