Ragini Khanna starts shooting for Sasural Genda Phool 2

The makers of Sasural Genda Phool (SGP) are bringing the show back with a new season and the shooting has already begun. We had reported that while most actors from the original edition have been retained, Ragini Khanna, who played Suhana in the show, will no longer be playing the heroine opposite Jay Soni in the second instalment. The makers have roped in Shagun Sharma as her replacement. However, we have now exclusively learnt that Ragini is shooting for the show, albeit for a cameo. She will make a special appearance on SGP 2 and will reprise the character of Suhana. Ragini has been shooting her scenes for the past couple of days.

Informed a source associated with the show, “According to the storyline of the new instalment, Suhana will be shown dead but Ishaan (Jay Soni) continues to pine for her. Ragini will be seen in a cameo and will make an appearance in four-five scenes. She will come in flashbacks with Ishaan remembering her. She will help and guide him to move on in life.”

Talking about the reason for replacing the heroine while retaining other actors, the source added, “The makers wanted to rope in a new face to play the heroine in the second edition. They felt that Suhana’s character was explored to its fullest in the inaugural season and didn’t have anything more to offer. The story of the previous season revolved around Suhana and this time around, we wanted it to focus on the family. It was a creative call to take the show ahead.”

Both Ragini and producer Romit Ojha remained unavailable for comment.
