Veteran actress Sheela Sharma, known for her portrayal of Fahmaan Khan’s grandmother in the show *Is Ishq Ka Rab Rakha*, has announced her departure from the series due to health concerns.
Sheela explained, “It was an interesting role, but I have struggled with health issues that ultimately led to my exit. Although my doctor advised me to avoid dust and pollution, my love for acting drove me to take on this project. Unfortunately, after I began shooting, I encountered breathing difficulties and asthma, compelling my doctor to recommend that I stay home. My family also advised me to prioritize my health. At the end of the day, health is wealth, so I made the decision to opt out of the show. While I enjoyed my role, I had to consider my well-being. My daughter, actress Madalsa Sharma, also felt it was best for me to rest.”
With over three decades of experience in television and film, Sheela reflected on the evolution of the industry: “I remember playing Devaki in *Mahabharat* many years ago when television shows were very different, both in terms of storytelling and character development. Nowadays, there’s a stronger emphasis on social dramas, and the variety of characters in a show can greatly influence the roles offered. Age is also a significant factor—today, a 35-year-old may play a mother or a mother-in-law, while a woman in her 40s could be cast as a grandmother. Therefore, it’s crucial to select projects that allow for growth as an actress.” She also mentioned her previous roles in *Rab Se Hai Dua* and *Pyar Ka Pehla Naam Radha Mohan*, which she found equally compelling.
As for the show’s current storyline, *Rab Rakha* focuses on the wedding of Ranbir (Fahmaan Khan) and Meghla (Sonakshi Batra) as their families come together for a reception. However, Meghla’s parents feel she has changed since marrying into a wealthy family and no longer values her roots. Additionally, Meghla’s sister, Adrija, continues to harbor resentment towards her, further straining family relationships by inciting her parents against her.
