Kim Sung Cheol and Park Bo Young are set to headline the upcoming thriller romance K-drama “Goldland.” Reports from February 26 indicate that Kim Sung Cheol has been tapped to join Park Bo Young as her leading man in this highly anticipated series.

In response to the casting news, Kim Sung Cheol’s agency, Story J Company, confirmed that “Goldland” is one of several projects under consideration for the actor. They noted that he is currently reviewing the K-drama.

If Kim Sung Cheol confirms his role, it will mark his first lead in a K-drama. Additionally, he will appear in a supporting role in the forthcoming Netflix original series “Boyfriend on Demand,” sharing the screen with main leads Kim Ji Soo and Seo In Guk.

Beyond his K-drama endeavors, Kim Sung Cheol will also feature in two upcoming films, “Project Y” and “The Old Woman with the Knife.” Last year, he took on the lead role in the Netflix original series “Hellbound Season 2” and made his Disney+ debut in the K-drama “No Way Out: The Roulette.”

“Goldland” will explore events at Korea’s first casino, built in abandoned mines that have been neglected due to the demands of the coal industry. The show will be directed by Kim Sung Hoon, known for “Chief Detective 1958” and “My Little Hero,” alongside writer Hwang Jo Yoon, noted for works such as “Rampant,” “Memoir of a Murderer,” and “Confidential Assignment.” The series will be produced by Studio Dragon.

In “Goldland,” Kim Sung Cheol is expected to portray Woo Gi, a junior high school classmate of Park Bo Young’s character, Kim Hui Ju. Park Bo Young’s character comes from a poor background and, after gaining independence from her parents, falls in love with a man she meets while working at the casino. However, she soon finds herself entangled in a mysterious murder case, facing challenges in both her love life and finances.

Reports suggest that “Goldland” will premiere on a streaming platform, adding to the excitement surrounding its release.
