Siddharth Shivpuri, currently portraying the character of Roop Kumar in “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,” joined the show just last month, introducing himself as the new love interest for Abhira, played by Samriddhi Shukla. After nearly two months in this role, Siddharth expressed his satisfaction with taking on what began as a cameo but has evolved into a significant part of the storyline.
Reflecting on his career, Siddharth shared, “Before joining ‘Yeh Rishta,’ I had a lead role in ‘Purnima’ and a negative lead in ‘Yeh Hai Chahatein.’ When I was first approached to play RK, I hesitated because it was a cameo. However, I realized that the importance of a role lies in its relevance and challenge, not just in its lead status. Now, after two months, I see RK as almost a parallel lead, navigating the complexities of wanting to marry Abhira. I appreciate the balance of humor and authority that my character brings to each scene, and I’m thrilled that the audience and my teammates have responded positively to my performance. Portraying RK has been an intriguing journey, and I look forward to exploring even more dimensions of the character in future episodes. The writers have done a fantastic job providing me with engaging dialogue, which has made my job easier, allowing me to focus entirely on my performance. Working with Rajan Shahi’s production team has been a rewarding experience.”
On a more personal note, Siddharth hails from Lucknow and moved to Mumbai in 2003 for his higher education. He admitted, “Becoming an actor was never part of my plan. After arriving in Mumbai, I completed my graduation and took on several jobs before transitioning into television. It wasn’t always straightforward, but I understand that nothing worthwhile comes easily. I take pride in my work now, especially since taking on the role of RK, as it has garnered attention and appreciation for my talent. Everyone faces their own obstacles, and I’ve experienced mine as well. We all strive for meaningful roles that propel us forward, and I hope to continue delivering exceptional work in the future.”
