A Bonafide Killer

Ratings Surge Past 10%! Dark Secrets and Conflicting Memories Erupt in A Bonafide Killer

MBC’s hit weekend action-comedy A Bonafide Killer has officially broken into double-digit viewership, shattering its personal record with a massive 10.2% nationwide average rating for Episode 6! Having launched at a strong 7.4%, the drama continues its uninterrupted upward trajectory, comfortably solidifying its position as the #1 Friday-Saturday drama across all channels.

A Conflicting First Meeting: A Bleeding Reporter and a Secret Identity

The latest episode deepened the high-stakes friction between working-mom-turned-legendary-sniper Yoobona (played by Gong Hyo jin) and her investigative journalist husband Kwon Tae sung (played by Jung Jun won). After unexpectedly running into Tae sung at a client meeting site, Bona was left rattled by the lingering danger of their clashing worlds crossing paths.

Seeking comfort back home, Bona suggested a quiet, ordinary date. Tae sung warmly agreed, asking, “Like the day we first met?” as the couple embraced. However, Bona’s internal narration revealed a chilling truth: “As long as he is there and I am here, we will meet again somewhere, someday.”

A crucial flashback exposed that their true first meeting was entirely different from what Tae sung remembers. Years ago, while dressed in Red Devils fan gear, Bona stumbled upon a young Tae sung lying unconscious on a staircase, bleeding heavily from his head—a traumatic encounter that Tae sung has completely erased from his memory.

Fire, Wiretaps, and Russia: Yoobona’s Traumatic Origins

Bona’s dark past as the elite assassin “Kingfisher” is rapidly converging with her present life. After discovering a hidden wiretap inside a doll sent by her Russian friend Seul gi, Bona issued a fierce warning: “If you pull this stunt one more time, I’ll fry you with lightning.”

Though Tae sung knows of Seul gi’s existence, he has never met her in person. Meanwhile, when Bona informed Bong Tae min (played by Kim Nam hee) that Seul gi would soon arrive in South Korea, Tae min flatly refused to meet her, teasing an intricate, unsettled history among the trio.

Flashbacks further revealed a young Bona escaping a burning orphanage hand-in-hand with an unknown figure, immediately juxtaposed against shots of her wielding a sniper rifle—leaving viewers eager to see how the orphanage arson and Seul gi tie into her lethal present.

Cryptic Texts and Kidnapping Nightmares: Tae sung’s Lingering Trauma

Tae sung is battling his own ghosts. Panic overcame him after receiving a sinister text message reading: “You keep promises well. Good boy.”

This threat triggered horrifying nightmares of Tae sung bound in a dark forest, blinded by approaching headlights. Awakening in a cold sweat, he looked over at his sleeping wife and daughter with overwhelming anxiety.

Past incidents reveal that Tae sung abruptly abandoned his investigative reporting on the legendary assassin Kingfisher after narrowly surviving a sniper attack. With his past trauma resurfacing, questions loom large: What truly happened during his near-fatal encounter with Kingfisher, and how will he react when he realizes the legendary sniper is sleeping right beside him?

Based on the popular Kakao Webtoon, A Bonafide Killer airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM KST on MBC!
