The incident occurred after episodes 5 and 6 aired, which featured Ming envoy Wu Gon and his imperial chefs. The Chinese voice actor took to Xiaohongshu (RedNote), a Chinese social media platform, to share behind-the-scenes details. He posted photos from the dubbing session and wrote, “The others were okay, but this person was terrible.” He went on to claim that the Korean actor’s original voice was so bad it made him and a Korean producer “burst out laughing” in the recording studio.

The post quickly drew the ire of Korean netizens, who criticized the voice actor’s lack of professionalism. Comments flooded in, with many pointing out the absurdity of insulting an actor for being awkward in a foreign language. “It’s normal for a Korean actor to sound awkward in a foreign language,” one user wrote. “Even if it’s funny when someone is really bad, did the voice actor really need to broadcast that publicly?” Another netizen questioned the voice actor’s own linguistic skills, remarking, “Can that Chinese voice actor speak Korean well? Is being good at your own native language really some kind of life achievement?”

Following the backlash, the voice actor deleted his post.
