Hiba Nawab Reflects on Her Departure from Jhanak Following the Upcoming Leap
The popular TV show Jhanak is preparing to embark on a significant 20-year leap, resulting in the exit of its lead actors, Hiba Nawab and Krushal Ahuja. Since its launch in November 2023, the series has traced the life of Jhanak, a young girl from Kashmir, and her connections with her cousin sister’s fiancé Aniruddh and his family in Kolkata.
Expressing her feelings about leaving the show, Hiba shared, “I’m truly sad to be exiting Jhanak. This role has been a huge part of my life, and I feel honored to have played it. However, the direction of the storyline is ultimately shaped by the creators, and I believe the 20-year leap will introduce a new and exciting dynamic to the series.”
Hiba also reflected on her time playing Jhanak, mentioning the challenges she faced, particularly with the physical demands of the role, which included shooting in Kashmir and navigating her fear of water while rowing a shikara. “This experience has significantly impacted my career, and I’ve developed a range of skills through this role. As I transition away from playing a 20-year-old, I realize that the character of Jhanak wouldn’t be believable as a 45-year-old woman.”
While recounting her dedication to the part, she noted, “I had to work hard to portray Jhanak convincingly, including losing weight and mastering dance performances, despite not being a trained dancer myself.” Hiba expressed a deep sense of nostalgia for the team and set, added, “I will truly miss everyone.”
Currently, the storyline unfolds with Jhanak living in Gujarat with Vihaan’s family, taking on the role of his wife and caring for his child. A significant moment looms ahead as Aniruddh, played by Krushal Ahuja, is set to visit Vihaan with his wife Arshi for a wedding, bringing Jhanak and Aniruddh’s paths to cross once more. Looking ahead, Hiba mentioned her intention to take a break before pursuing new projects.
