The episode begins with a tense atmosphere in the courtroom, where Aniruddh’s lawyer, Mr. Ghosh, stands before the judge. He asserts that Jhanak is a cunning girl, emphasizing the dubious circumstances surrounding her marriage to Rishi. Mr. Ghosh recounts how Rishi forcefully married Jhanak and subsequently deceived his family by claiming she was merely a maid. He explains that Rishi, intent on marrying Aditi, concealed the truth about Jhanak from everyone. However, when Aditi discovered the reality, she promptly called off the engagement, prompting Aniruddh to visit the hospitalized Jhanak. During this visit, Jhanak allegedly signed documents stating that marriage held no value for her. Following this, Rishi proceeded to marry Aditi, while Jhanak was left homeless after being expelled from her college hostel. In a twist of fate, Aditi took Jhanak in, but Mr. Ghosh claims that Jhanak repaid Aditi’s kindness by making her life miserable. He adds that Jhanak was not assigned any responsibility for the food counter, yet she willingly entered the kitchen, where a fire broke out due to a short circuit. Mr. Ghosh concludes his opening statement by suggesting that Rishi instigated Jhanak to accuse Aniruddh.
In response, Jhanak’s lawyer interjects, questioning whether Mr. Ghosh is implying that the police failed to conduct a thorough investigation. Mr. Ghosh seeks permission from the judge to question Jhanak directly. He begins by asking her about her birthplace and family. Jhanak responds that she hails from Simulboni and that her mother, Nutan, has passed away. When Mr. Ghosh prompts her to remember someone else, Jhanak reluctantly admits that her father is Parashar.
Mr. Ghosh then informs the judge that Parashar is a notorious criminal, a statement that Jhanak’s lawyer quickly disputes as irrelevant to the case at hand. Mr. Ghosh insists that understanding Jhanak’s upbringing is crucial. He argues that Aniruddh, a reputable businessman in Kolkata, would have no reason to harm Jhanak. Jhanak’s lawyer counters that the motive is clear: Aditi’s dislike for Jhanak led Aniruddh to act against her. Mr. Ghosh retorts that Aditi actually supported Jhanak, bringing her into the Chatterjee household, and asserts that Jhanak does not deserve Aditi’s kindness.
To bolster his case, Mr. Ghosh calls Neelu to the witness stand. He questions her about Aditi’s relationship with Jhanak. Neelu testifies that Aditi always treated Jhanak well and reveals that Aniruddh offered Jhanak money to leave Rishi’s life. Although Jhanak initially accepted this offer, she later returned to Rishi’s life, taking advantage of Aditi’s generosity. Neelu describes Jhanak as a betrayer and greedy, claiming that she attempted to get close to Rishi in front of Aditi, which ultimately led to Aditi leaving the house. Neelu emphasizes that Aniruddh and Aditi handled the situation maturely, asserting that there is no way Aniruddh could have tried to kill Jhanak.
Next, Jhanak’s lawyer calls Sanjhbati to the witness stand. He seeks her opinion on Jhanak’s character. Sanjhbati describes Jhanak as a naive and pure-hearted individual who excelled in her studies. She shares that Jhanak came to Kolkata to fulfill her and her mother’s dreams. Sanjhbati claims that Jhanak believes Aniruddh is her father, suggesting that Aniruddh might have wanted to kill Jhanak to avoid a DNA test that could expose their relationship. She argues that Aniruddh acted out of a desire to protect his reputation, business, and wealth, and implies that Aditi brought Jhanak into their home to prevent her from revealing the truth.
Mr. Ghosh interjects, arguing that Aniruddh’s reputation is being tarnished without any solid evidence. He questions the relevance of Sanjhbati’s testimony, pointing out that she is not a member of the Chatterjee family and therefore her opinion should hold little weight. Neelu counters that Sanjhbati does not know Jhanak well enough to provide a fair assessment. Jhanak’s lawyer insists that the primary issue at hand is the fire incident. He notes that Aniruddh had hired a catering service for Dritimaan and Sanjhbati’s Aashirvad ceremony, but no one knew that the manager was also hired that day. The judge, sensing the escalating tension, declares that the court is adjourned and that the hearing will continue on the next date.
Later, as the courtroom empties, Bablu approaches Anjana, informing her that Aniruddh has returned from court and that he plans to speak with him. Anjana, visibly distressed, gazes at a photo of Apu and Nutan, tears welling up in her eyes. Aditi enters the room and notices her mother’s sorrowful expression. She inquires about the photo, prompting Anjana to apologize for her emotional state. When Aditi asks who is beside Apu in the picture, Anjana hesitates before lying, claiming the person is Apu’s friend. However, Aditi presses her for the truth, leading Anjana to reveal that the woman in the photo is Nutan, Jhanak’s mother. Aditi, surprised, asks if Nutan was like a daughter to Anjana.
Meanwhile, Bablu confronts Aniruddh, questioning whether he truly attempted to kill Jhanak. Aniruddh, taken aback by the accusation, asks Bablu if he genuinely believes he could do such a thing, hinting at the gravity of the situation and the strain it has placed on their relationships.
In the recap, tension continues to mount as Rishi asks Jhanak if she has eaten, to which she replies that she is not hungry. Rishi, concerned for her well-being, tries to convince her to eat, but their conversation takes a chaotic turn when Neelu inadvertently causes Jhanak to fall, resulting in Rishi tumbling down as well, further complicating their already tumultuous relationship.
