The episode opens with Indumati confronting Dritimaan, questioning him about his abrupt departure from their lives. Dritimaan responds by suggesting that they will come to understand his reasons once they hear his story. Dadabhai, feeling the weight of Dritimaan’s actions, expresses his disappointment, stating that Dritimaan has failed to fulfill his responsibilities as a son and has abandoned Sanjhbati. He emphasizes that Sanjhbati still harbors feelings for Dritimaan, which is why she has not married anyone else. Dadabhai chastises Dritimaan, accusing him of ruining everything and selfishly leaving, and he demands to know why Dritimaan has returned after so many years. In a moment of support, Neelu urges Dadabhai to allow Dritimaan the opportunity to explain himself.
Putul shares with Dritimaan that their lives have dramatically changed in his absence. Dritimaan insists that perhaps they will understand his actions when they learn the truth about him. Rishi, curious about Dritimaan’s intentions, asks why he has brought Sanjhbati back into the fold. Dritimaan asserts that Sanjhbati is also part of his family. However, Sanjhbati interrupts, asking him to stop pretending. Jhanak then implores Sanjhbati to listen to what Dritimaan has to say.
Mishti suggests that the servants should take the guests to the guest room for their comfort, prompting the servants to leave. Mishti then questions Jhanak about her presence, but Rishi interjects, telling Mishti to stop. Arshi asks Jhanak why she hasn’t left yet, to which Aditi reassures her that it’s understandable given the emotional atmosphere surrounding Dritimaan’s return. She encourages Jhanak to stay, noting that she is like family. Aniruddh comments to Aditi that she is giving Jhanak too much attention unnecessarily.
Rishi takes the opportunity to introduce Aditi and her family to Dritimaan, followed by an introduction of Jhanak. Dritimaan inquires why Aditi’s family seems to have questions about him. Arshi explains that they come from a higher social class than his family, and being Aditi’s brother-in-law, everyone is curious about him. Dritimaan finds it hard to believe that people are so interested in the life of Aditi’s brother-in-law.
Surjeet urges Dritimaan to focus on what he wants to say and questions why he ceased communication with them. Abhimanyu expresses that Dritimaan should have shared his circumstances with his family. Tanushri adds that they have been left without answers regarding Dritimaan’s departure. Dritimaan acknowledges their suffering due to his actions and explains that he has come to clarify why he left. He offers an apology to Sanjhbati for the pain he caused her, admitting that he feels responsible for the turmoil in her life, and he hands her his medical report.
Sanjhbati, upon seeing the report, is visibly upset and asks Dritimaan about its contents. He reassures her that it is an old report and that he is in good health now. Confused, Sanjhbati questions why he didn’t share this information sooner and whether he thought she would abandon him upon learning of his illness. Dritimaan reveals his uncertainty about his survival and expresses that he could never willingly harm Sanjhbati’s life, as he loves her deeply.
Rishi presses Dritimaan for details about his illness, while Sanjhbati reveals that the disease he mentioned is incurable. Indumati, filled with concern, asks Dritimaan if he has come to say goodbye. Jhanak attempts to reassure Indumati, reminding her that Dritimaan claims to be well now. Dritimaan agrees with Jhanak and explains that his intention in leaving was never to be selfish. He turns to Sanjhbati, asking if she would consider giving him another chance and expresses his desire to marry her. This declaration fills everyone with joy.
Rishi confidently states that Sanjhbati will agree to the marriage, and Jhanak notes that it seems like God has returned happiness to Sanjhbati. Dadabhai reflects on how fortunate Jhanak is to have such a home. Dritimaan inquires about Jhanak’s situation, and Putul informs him that she is studying in medical college and currently has no place to stay, which is why she is living there. Dritimaan expresses his approval of having a mature young woman like Jhanak in the household. However, Arshi cautions him that he doesn’t know much about Jhanak yet. Neelu insists that Dritimaan should be made aware of Jhanak’s full story, but Rishi tells her to stop. Neelu then reveals to Dritimaan that Jhanak had a forced marriage with Rishi, aided by her villagers. Sanjhbati interjects, promising to explain everything to Dritimaan later.
Indumati, overwhelmed with emotion, questions Dritimaan about his silence during his absence, and tears flow as she expresses her sorrow. Dritimaan urges her not to cry, but Sanjhbati, feeling betrayed, declares that she has decided not to marry him. This revelation shocks everyone present, and Sanjhbati insists that she no longer wishes to speak with Dritimaan. As she attempts to leave, Jhanak intervenes, stopping her. Dritimaan pleads with Sanjhbati, stating that he is willing to accept any punishment she deems fit, but he cannot bear the thought of her leaving him. Aditi encourages Sanjhbati not to walk away from the situation, reminding her that the family has yet to celebrate Dritimaan’s return. Everyone rallies around Sanjhbati, urging her to reconsider and agree to marry Dritimaan.
Indumati expresses her belief that Dritimaan returned because he made a promise to Sanjhbati, and if she were to leave him, it would be detrimental to his well-being. Dritimaan continues to plead for Sanjhbati’s forgiveness and asks her to punish him instead of abandoning him. Aditi observes that everything seems to be falling into place for their family, while Rishi contemplates his feelings for Jhanak, struggling to voice them. Jhanak, on the other hand, feels happiness from Rishi’s joy but recognizes that she is not truly a member of this family and lacks the right to share in his happiness.
Meanwhile, Sanjhbati’s mother grows anxious about her daughter’s well-being after visiting Dritimaan’s home. She expresses concern that Sanjhbati may be hurt, as it is clear that she still loves Dritimaan. Her friend reassures her that Sanjhbati’s love for Dritimaan is genuine, but they should refrain from judging him too harshly, considering societal pressures. The friend encourages her to listen to Dritimaan’s perspective before forming any conclusions. However, Sanjhbati’s mother remains skeptical, labeling her daughter an emotional fool. When Sanjhbati calls, her mother puts the phone on speaker and asks her what transpired.
Sanjhbati reveals to her mother that Dritimaan has returned and shares all the details of their encounter. Her mother cautions her not to place her trust in Dritimaan, but Sanjhbati insists that she believes in him and intends to marry him. Her mother ultimately tells her to follow her heart, albeit reluctantly, and disconnects the call, shedding tears. Her friend encourages her to have faith in Sanjhbati’s choices.
Later, Aditi confides in Mishti, handing her a piece of jewelry and instructing her to hide it. She explains that this is part of Arshi’s plan to eliminate Jhanak from their lives, as she intends to send Jhanak to the room where the jewelry is hidden. Mishti praises the scheme and leaves, while Aditi contemplates how Jhanak will be permanently out of her life.
In a recap of the previous events, Rishi asks Jhanak if she loves him, to which she admits her feelings. Aditi overhears this exchange, setting the stage for further developments in their intertwined lives.
