Actor Kim Jae Young is poised to take on his first leading role in a romantic comedy K-drama entitled “Idol Kid” (working title), according to reports from media outlets on February 24.
As of now, Kim Jae Young’s team has not yet commented on this casting news. Should he accept the role, this would mark his debut as the main lead in a romantic comedy, following his appearance as the second lead in the 2022 series “Love in Contract.”
Last year, Kim Jae Young garnered a significant fanbase through his performance in the K-drama “The Judge from Hell,” where he received acclaim for his chemistry with co-stars including Park Shin Hye, Kim In Kwon, Kim Ah Young, Lee Joong Ok, and Ha Kyung Min.
In addition to “Idol Kid,” Kim Jae Young is also set to lead the upcoming MBC K-drama “My Lovely Journey,” alongside Gong Seung Yeon, Yoo Joon Sang, Hong Soo Hyun, Yoo Ji Yeon, and NU’EST’s Baekho.
Known for his roles in K-dramas such as “Reflection of You,” “Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life,” “Secret Boutique,” “Dear My Room,” “100 Days My Prince,” and “My Secret Romance,” Kim Jae Young has built a solid reputation in the industry.
“Idol Kid” will narrate the story of a top star lawyer who has been a fangirl for 15 years and an idol who harbors a strong disdain for obsessive fans. The series will be directed by Lee Gwang Young, known for creating “Call It Love,” “No, Thank You,” “The Secret Life of My Secretary,” and the upcoming K-drama “The Scandal of Chun Hwa.”
Kim Jae Young has been offered the role of Do Ra Ik, a character with a background as a cabaret singer due to family circumstances. He eventually made his debut as one of the five members of the idol boy group called Guardians after being scouted by the CEO of an entertainment company.
Currently, there are no updates regarding the actress who may take on the role of the female lead, the top star lawyer. “Idol Kid” is set to premiere exclusively on the broadcast channel ENA.
