On January 6, it was officially announced that Park Seo Joon will star in the upcoming JTBC K-drama Waiting for Gyeong Do. It was earlier reported that he would co-star with actress Won Ji An, but only Park Seo Joon’s casting has been confirmed so far.
Waiting for Gyeong Do is a romantic comedy that tells the story of a couple who initially dated in their twenties and unexpectedly cross paths again later in life. Their reunion happens as one becomes a reporter covering an affair scandal, while the other is the wife entangled in that scandal.
The new K-drama will be directed by Im Hyun Wook, known for King the Land and Reflection of You, with the script penned by Yoo Young Ah, who has worked on Dog Days, Thirty-Nine, Kim Ji Young: Born 1982, and Encounter.
Waiting for Gyeong Do is set to air on JTBC, though the exact release date has yet to be announced.
In the series, Park Seo Joon will take on the role of Lee Gyeong Do, an entertainment reporter for Dongwoon Ilbo. He reconnects with his ex-girlfriend Seo Ji Woo when she is assigned to cover a cheating scandal.
This will mark Park Seo Joon’s return to the romantic comedy genre after seven years. His last rom-com appearance was in 2018, in the hit K-drama What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.
Last year, he led the Netflix K-drama Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 alongside Han So Hee, Bae Hyeon Seong, Lee Moo Saeng, Heo Jun Seok, and Han Dong Hee.
