The upcoming romance drama Can This Love Be Translated? has unveiled a series of breathtaking new stills featuring Kim Seon Ho, Go Youn Jung, and Fukushi Sota, sparking excitement among fans just days before its highly anticipated premiere on January 16.
A Story of Love Across Languages
At the heart of the drama lies the tender yet unpredictable romance between multilingual interpreter Joo Ho Jin (played by Kim Seon Ho) and global top star Cha Mu Hee (played by Go Youn Jung). Their professional relationship gradually transforms into something deeper, weaving together themes of communication, cultural connection, and the universal language of love.
Japan: A Heart‑Fluttering First Encounter
The newly released stills capture Ho Jin and Mu Hee standing apart with train tracks between them in Japan—a symbolic image that hints at the emotional distance they must overcome. Director Yoo Young Eun emphasized the importance of subtle gazes and body language to create heart‑fluttering tension. Go Youn Jung reflected, “As we got to know each other and built our chemistry, I think that heart‑fluttering excitement naturally carried over into our acting.”
Canada: Romance Under the Northern Lights
As the story progresses, Ho Jin and Mu Hee’s bond deepens in Canada, framed by stunning natural backdrops including sunsets, auroras, and serene lakes. Kim Seon Ho shared, “It’s the part where Ho Jin and Mu Hee grow closer, and it was actually the step in which my chemistry with Go Youn Jung improved during the actual filming.” Go Youn Jung added, “I filmed enjoyably, and I think our acting became richer.” These scenes promise to deliver both visual beauty and emotional resonance.
Italy: Warmth Amid Winter Snow
The romance continues in Italy, where cozy snow and warm lighting create an atmosphere of calm intimacy. Director Yoo Young Eun aimed to capture the couple’s romantic moments against Europe’s winter backdrop. Kim Seon Ho remarked, “The atmosphere was great as usual. The director and Go Youn Jung led the atmosphere well, and I was also pulled along. It was a happy filming.”
Korea: Everyday Beauty in Familiar Places
Finally, the drama returns to Korea, where Yoo Young Eun chose ordinary yet beautiful locations to highlight the authenticity of daily life. “Rather than large and extravagant places, I wanted to naturally show ordinary yet beautiful locations. It will be fun for viewers to look for iconic locations of Seoul in the places where the characters live and walk in their daily lives,” the director explained.
A Visual Journey Across Borders
With its international settings—Japan, Canada, Italy, and Korea—Can This Love Be Translated? promises a visually stunning journey that mirrors the emotional evolution of its characters. The chemistry between Kim Seon Ho and Go Youn Jung, combined with Fukushi Sota’s presence, sets the stage for a heartfelt drama that explores love beyond borders and languages.
