Fake Boyfriend, Real Secrets: Jung Hae-in and Ha Young Star in Netflixâs Newest Hits-and-Misses Rom-Com ‘Our Sticky Love’
On the afternoon of the 5th, a press conference for the new Netflix original series Our Sticky Love was held at Hotel Naru Seoul MGallery in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Director Kim Jang-han along with lead cast members Jung Hae-in, Ha Young, and Heo Sung-tae attended the event to share insights into the show.
Our Sticky Love is an upcoming romantic comedy that follows Go Eun-sae (played by Ha Young), a star prosecutor who suffers from amnesia, and Jang Tae-ha (played by Jung Hae-in), a boxing coach who claims to be her boyfriend. The story unfolds as the two begin an unexpected, sweet-and-salty cohabitation filled with high-stakes secrets and undeniable romantic chemistry. The series is set to premiere globally on Netflix on the 7th.
Fast-Paced Narrative Spanning Rom-Com, Thriller, and Action
Director Kim Jang-han highlighted the unique advantages of working with Netflix, noting that the platform allowed the team to deliver a fast-paced and tightly packed narrative.
“When working with Netflix, we aren’t restricted by pacing,” Director Kim explained. “There’s no unnecessary fluff or dragged-out scenes. We included only what was essential to keep up with modern viewing trends.”
Addressing the double meaning behind the show’s theme, Director Kim added that the relationship between the two main characters mirrors the sticky sweet nature of traditional taffy (yeot). While the situation initially feels chaotic and frustrating for Eun-sae when she wakes up, the bond between the two deepens like warming candy that sticks together tighter as temperature rises.
The series seamlessly blends genres beyond traditional romance. Jung Hae-in shared, “It starts as a romantic comedy, moves into thriller, noir, and action, and then brings you back to rom-com. It has a incredibly diverse appeal.”
Character Breakdown: From Amnesic Prosecutor to Boxing Coach with a Secret
Jung Hae-in as Jang Tae-ha
Jung Hae-in plays Jang Tae-ha, a boxing gym coach who harbors a hidden past. Tae-ha was once a promising youth boxer who drifted into an organized crime group before turning his life around. On his final assignment to leave the syndicate, he unexpectedly encounters his lost first love, Go Eun-sae, who has lost her memoryâleading him to launch a life-or-death lie.
Reflecting on his return to Netflix following D.P., Jung Hae-in expressed confidence: “This show has a completely different tone from D.P., and I believe viewers will love it just as much. Though the action scenes were intense and desperate, my primary focus was on capturing the emotional depth of the character.”
Ha Young as Go Eun-sae
Ha Young plays Go Eun-sae, a highly competent prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office known for her stellar track record and sharp efficiency. While investigating an organized crime syndicate for a major career breakthrough, she gets involved in an unexpected accident. Waking up in a rural hospital surrounded by traditional candy shops with no memory of her name, age, or job, she is met by Tae-ha, who claims to be her boyfriend.
Taking on her first lead role in a romantic comedy, Ha Young admitted feeling pressure initially: “As a big fan of rom-coms, I was excited but also worried. However, reading the script made those worries disappear. The warmth and guidance from the director and senior actors allowed me to focus completely on acting.”
Heo Sung-tae as Baek Sang-gil
Adding strong tension to the series, Heo Sung-tae plays Baek Sang-gil, a legendary gang boss who disguises himself as a dignified businessman but reveals a ruthless nature when faced with betrayal.
“He is the most villainous character Iâve ever playedâeven worse than Jang Deok-su in Squid Game,” Heo Sung-tae joked. “When I read the script, I knew I had to take the role. The atmosphere on set was fantastic.”
A Classic Romance Reimagined for Global Audiences
Both lead actors praised each other’s performance and leadership on set. Jung Hae-in lauded Ha Youngâs bright and positive energy, while Ha Young shared deep respect for Jung Hae-inâs professionalism, noting how he cared for the cast, crew, and overall production environment.
Ha Young summarized the charm of the show by stating, “There’s a line in our drama that says, ‘This isn’t a clichĂŠ, it’s a classic.’ It has been a long time since we’ve had a deep, authentic romance like this that combines rom-com and melodrama. Viewers who missed classic romance will truly enjoy it.”
Our Sticky Love premieres globally on Netflix on the 7th.
