Siddharth Shivpuri has joined the cast of Rajan Shahi’s beloved series *Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai* (YRKKH) in the role of RK, Roop Kumar. Excited about this new chapter, Siddharth expressed, “I am more than thrilled to join YRKKH. It was long overdue to work with Rajan Shahi, sir.”
For Siddharth, this opportunity is not just about being part of a long-running show on ITV; it’s a chance to collaborate with a respected figure in the industry. “For me, it was more about working with him personally. I had heard so much about him, and finally getting to work on this iconic show is very exciting,” he added.
Describing his character, RK is portrayed as an easygoing individual who approaches life with a lighthearted attitude, believing in the mantra of having fun: ‘Zindagi mein hai mazaak hona chahiye.’ However, there’s a deeper, more serious side to him, as he juggles significant responsibilities toward his mother and brother, who are not his biological relatives—a facet of his life he tends to keep hidden.
Siddharth acknowledged the warm welcome he received despite the show’s impressive 16-year run. “I was made to feel at home immediately. Meeting Rajan sir confirmed that he is a comfortable and understanding leader, which I believe is a key reason this show has thrived for so long, and will continue to do so,” he remarked. He appreciates the camaraderie among the cast and crew, which contributes to a supportive working environment.
However, he also feels the pressure that comes with joining such a successful show. “Even amid the warmth, there’s always pressure. As an actor, I strive to excel in every scene. My goal is to elevate the show and help it reach new heights,” he explained.
Siddharth is determined to give his best, stating, “While not everything might be under my control, I want to ensure that I meet the expectations placed upon me. Ultimately, I want to go to bed at night knowing I did my best.”
He praised Rajan Shahi’s storytelling abilities, stating, “Rajan sir is known for creating relatable stories. Both *YRKKH* and *Anupamaa* resonate with audiences because they connect with the characters’ experiences. His shows avoid one-dimensional negative portrayals; instead, they explore how circumstances shape behavior, which is very justified.”
Siddharth concluded by commending the balance Rajan Shahi strikes in his narratives: “The stories remain fast-paced while addressing complex emotional dynamics, relationships, and struggles in a remarkable way. Mr. Rajan Shahi has truly mastered this craft.”
