The End of an Era: Kumkum Bhagya Nears Its Grand Finale

After a spectacular run that began in 2014, Zee TV’s long-running hit, Kumkum Bhagya, is reportedly preparing for its final bow. The beloved show, a household name for over a decade, is coming to an end as the channel revamps its programming with fresh and innovative concepts.

This change is part of a larger strategy by Zee TV, which has already seen popular shows like Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile, Vasudha, and Jagriti – Ek Nayi Subah shift their time slots. These moves are paving the way for new shows, including the newly launched reality series Chhoriyan Chali Gaon, which is already generating positive buzz.

A New Story for a Prime Time Slot

The departure of Kumkum Bhagya will make room for a new show, and all signs point to Ganga Mai Ki Betiyaan taking its place. Produced by Ravie Dubey and Sargun Mehta’s Dreamiyata Entertainment, the show features a talented cast including Amandeep Sidhu, Sheezan Khan, and Shubhangi Latkar.

The decision to end Kumkum Bhagya comes as the show, now featuring its fourth generation of leads—Pranali Rathod, Namik Paul, and Akshay Bindra—has faced a recent dip in TRP ratings. The move signals the channel’s focus on staying competitive in a constantly evolving entertainment landscape.

Over the years, Kumkum Bhagya has become a cultural touchstone, with a cast that has spanned generations. It began with the iconic pair of Shabir Ahluwalia and Sriti Jha, followed by Krishna Kaul and Mugdha Chaphekar, and later Abrar Qazi and Rachi Sharma. The show’s closure follows the end of its successful spin-off, Kundali Bhagya, which also concluded earlier this year.

While we are still awaiting an official announcement from the channel, it seems the countdown for the final episode has begun.
