Deng Wei and Ai Mi Confirmed as Leads for iQIYI Costume Drama Hundred Demon Spectrum; Boot Ceremony Set for August 11
Chinese drama fans received exciting casting confirmation on August 8, 2026: Deng Wei and Ai Mi have been officially locked in as the leads for the upcoming iQIYI costume fantasy drama Hundred Demon Spectrum (百妖谱 / Bai Yao Pu).
According to the update shared by CdramaBloom, the pair is confirmed for the project, with the boot ceremony scheduled for August 11.

The drama is an S+ level iQIYI production directed by Guo Jingming, adapted from the popular novel (and successful donghua) by Sha Luo Shuang Shu (裟椤双树).
The original story follows a mysterious spirit/ghost doctor who travels the land helping yaoguai (demons, spirits, and supernatural beings) with their ailments and emotional burdens, accompanied by companions, in an episodic, heartfelt style that blends fantasy, adventure, and human-demon empathy. The donghua adaptation has built a strong fanbase, with high viewership and positive reception on Bilibili.

Reports indicate Deng Wei will portray the male lead Si Kuanglan (司狂澜, also referred to in connection with the original’s Si Tu Lan), a cold, noble, and highly skilled swordsman from a prestigious family.
Ai Mi is set to play the female lead Tao Yao (桃夭), the compassionate yet formidable spirit doctor at the heart of the story.

Promotional images accompanying the announcement show the actors in elaborate period fantasy costumes: Deng Wei with long dark hair, striking silver facial ornaments, and teal robes, holding a white cup in a poised, ethereal look; Ai Mi in flowing green-and-gold attire with delicate floral hairpieces, holding an ornate golden butterfly near her face.
These visuals align closely with the elegant, otherworldly aesthetic expected from a Guo Jingming-helmed costume fantasy.
Filming is expected to take place in locations including Hengdian and Puyuan ancient town areas, with a substantial shooting period planned. Fans have already organized large-scale support activities around the boot, reflecting high anticipation for the pairing and the adaptation of this beloved IP.
This marks a notable collaboration, bringing Deng Wei’s refined classical screen presence together with rising talent Ai Mi under Guo Jingming’s distinctive visual style. As production begins shortly, audiences can look forward to more updates on Hundred Demon Spectrum.
