Rising star Choo Young Woo is stepping onto the big screen for the first time with Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight, a melodrama that promises to tug at viewers’ hearts. Having already established himself as one of the most promising talents through his breakout performance in The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, Choo is now cementing his place among the industry’s most sought‑after young actors.
Nervous but Determined: His First Mainstream Film
In a candid interview, Choo Young Woo admitted to feeling both nervous and overwhelmed about his debut film role. “Since it’s my first (mainstream) film, I’m extremely nervous and overwhelmed,” he confessed, before adding with determination, “I want to make another movie.” His honesty reflects the humility of an actor who, despite his rising fame, continues to approach each project with sincerity and a desire to grow.
A Poignant Story of Love and Memory
The film tells the touching story of Seo Yun (played by Shin Shi Ah), a young woman who loses her memories every single day. Choo portrays Jae Won, the man who patiently fills in her memories each time, becoming her anchor in a world where nothing lasts. Their relationship unfolds as a bittersweet exploration of love, resilience, and the fragility of human connection.
Physical Transformation for the Role
Choo also revealed the effort he put into preparing for the role, including a significant physical transformation. “I did lose 13 kg, but it didn’t really show that much,” he shared candidly. “What I realized while losing weight was that I’m not naturally skinny, so even if I lose weight, I don’t end up looking skinny. I have a solid frame, and that was a bit disappointing.” His openness about the challenges of body image adds another layer of relatability to his journey.
A Year of Awards and Recognition
Reflecting on his whirlwind year, Choo acknowledged the recognition he has received. “This year, thankfully, I filled one entire side of my display cabinet with awards. It feels like a dream,” he said. Displaying them at home serves as both a reminder of his achievements and a motivation to keep working hard.
Choo humbly credited his success not to personal charm but to the strength of the projects and characters he has been fortunate to play. “Rather than me having some extraordinary charm as an actor, I think it’s more that the projects and the characters were good,” he explained.
Fans and Natural Appeal
Now considered a top casting choice for melodrama leads, Choo reflected on the feedback he has received from fans. “Fans find both me and the characters I play cute,” he said with a smile. “Someone once told me they like that I don’t come across as awkward. I remember a comment saying that the way I look and speak seems very natural, and hearing opinions like that makes me try even more to lean into it.”
Lifestyle Changes: Giving Up Alcohol and Coffee

Choo also revealed personal lifestyle changes, sharing that he has given up alcohol and switched to decaf coffee. “My body has been going through ups and downs, so it’s been three months since I stopped drinking alcohol, and it’s also been three months since I switched to decaf coffee,” he said. With a laugh, he added, “I wasn’t getting enough sleep, and I thought, ‘At this rate, I might die,’ so I figured it would be better to at least cut out what was keeping me from sleeping. After doing that, I could sleep well at night.”
Growth, Kindness, and Cooking
Looking back on his busy year, Choo reflected on his personal growth. “I’ve grown as an actor, but what I really like about my current self is that I’m not focusing on trivial things and am slowly learning what’s truly important. I also feel like I’m taking better care of the people around me, so I like who I am right now.”
He added that he now prefers a quieter lifestyle, spending more time at home. “These days, I really try to live kindly, and I hardly go outside at all. It happened naturally, and my friends come over to my place. Lately, I’ve gotten into cooking. I make 3–4 servings and give them to friends, or pack lunchboxes and host tasting sessions for the staff.”
A Promising Future Ahead
With his first film role in Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight, Choo Young Woo is not only showcasing his versatility as an actor but also proving that his rising popularity is built on sincerity, hard work, and a genuine connection with audiences. As he continues to grow both personally and professionally, fans can look forward to seeing him shine even brighter in the years to come.
