The Last-Stand Doctor: Kim Yoon Woo in Talks to Join Lee Jae Wook in New K-Drama

Get ready, K-drama fans! It looks like rising star Kim Yoon Woo might be joining the cast of the highly anticipated series, The Last-Stand Doctor.

On September 8, reports surfaced that the actor is in talks to take on his first-ever doctor role, portraying Yong Ju Cheon—a colleague to characters played by Lee Jae Wook and Hong Min Ki. This would mark Kim Yoon Woo’s next project since last year’s Begins Youth, a drama inspired by the BTS Universe.

Kim Yoon Woo has been steadily building a name for himself since his 2022 debut in Mimicus. He gained significant recognition for his roles in the hit historical romance My Dearest and the thrilling period drama Gyeongseong Creature.

About the K-Drama

The Last-Stand Doctor is based on a popular Kakao Webtoon and promises to be an intriguing series. The story follows a brilliant plastic surgeon who finds himself banished to Pyeongdong Island, a remote and chaotic place, to serve as a public health doctor. Over the course of a year, he’ll navigate the challenges of the island and encounter its eclectic mix of residents and patients.

The drama is set to be helmed by director Lee Myung Woo, the mastermind behind hits like The Fiery Priest, One Ordinary Day, and Boyhood. In addition to Lee Jae Wook, the main cast is rumored to include Shin Ye Eun and Lee Soo Kyung.

If all goes well, we can expect to see The Last-Stand Doctor air on the ENA channel in 2026.
