SBS has officially confirmed the premiere date of its highly anticipated new Friday-Saturday drama Phantom Lawyer, which will air its first episode on March 13 at 9:50 PM. Alongside the announcement, the network unveiled a striking teaser poster that encapsulates the unique worldview of the series and introduces Yoo Yeon Seok as a lawyer who defends unseen truths.
Phantom Lawyer (directed by Shin Joong Hoon, written by Kim Ga Young and Kang Chul Gyu, produced by Studio S and Mongjakso) is positioned as the next major entry in SBS’s lineup of refreshing courtroom dramas. Unlike conventional legal series, this drama blends fantasy with law, centering on two contrasting attorneys: Shin I Rang, a “spirit-possessed lawyer” who resolves the lingering grudges of the dead, and Han Na Hyun, a cold-blooded elite lawyer who stakes everything on winning cases. Their unusual partnership unfolds into a mysterious yet heartwarming adventure that explores justice beyond the boundaries of logic and law.
The teaser poster released on February 4 features the tagline, “Defending the unseen truth,” and depicts the setting of Okcheon Building Room 501, where all the stories begin. The imagery is rich with symbolism: talismans covering the walls decorated with the twelve zodiac signs, incense smoke rising gently from a burner, and a law book placed in stark contrast to the mystical objects around it. These details hint that this office is far more than a place of legal arguments—it is a gateway to supernatural encounters.
This office, once used as a shaman’s house, becomes the workplace of Shin I Rang (played by Yoo Yeon Seok), an ordinary lawyer with ambitions to build the best law firm under his name. However, after unknowingly opening his practice in this peculiar space, he begins to see ghosts, and his life takes an unexpected turn. As he confronts cases entangled with invisible beings and unresolved stories, Shin I Rang gradually transforms into a lawyer who defends truths that cannot be explained by law or reason alone. Through these encounters, he discovers hidden layers of reality and becomes a spirit-driven attorney who fights for justice in extraordinary ways.
Yoo Yeon Seok, widely recognized as a versatile actor with a diverse filmography, is expected to deliver a bold new performance in this role. His portrayal of Shin I Rang promises to showcase both intensity and emotional depth, raising anticipation for the drama’s premiere.
