JTBC has officially kicked off excitement for its upcoming drama Efficient Dating for Singles (literal title) by unveiling a behind-the-scenes look at its very first script reading session. Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, the series promises to deliver a refreshing blend of humor, romance, and heartfelt moments as it explores the modern challenges of love and dating.
At the heart of the story is Lee Ui Young (Han Ji Min), a successful woman whose career is thriving but whose love life has long been on pause. Determined to break free from her dating hiatus, Ui Young dives headfirst into the unpredictable world of blind dates. Her journey introduces her to two very different men, each with unique charms, sparking a romantic dilemma that forces her to question what true love really means.
The script reading session brought together director Lee Jae Hoon, writer Lee Yi Jin, and a star-studded cast including Han Ji Min, Park Sung Hoon, Lee Ki Taek, Jung Hye Sung, and Kim So Hye. From the very beginning, the room was filled with energy, laughter, and palpable chemistry, setting the stage for what promises to be a drama full of relatable emotions and memorable characters.
Han Ji Min immediately set the tone with her cheerful yet sincere portrayal of Ui Young. Her performance captured the essence of a woman who is confident in her professional life but vulnerable when it comes to matters of the heart. Particularly striking was her depiction of Ui Young’s determination to embrace love again, showing both her charm and her resolve to step outside her comfort zone.
Adding depth to the romantic storyline are Ui Young’s two blind date partners. Park Sung Hoon takes on the role of Song Tae Seob, a man whose gentle appearance hides a strong inner core. His nuanced performance hinted at layers of complexity beneath his calm exterior. Meanwhile, Lee Ki Taek brought vibrancy to the character of Shin Ji Soo, a younger, free-spirited man whose unpredictable nature adds excitement and tension to Ui Young’s journey. The contrast between Tae Seob’s steadiness and Ji Soo’s spontaneity heightens curiosity about which path Ui Young will ultimately choose.
The supporting cast also shone during the reading. Jung Hye Sung infused her role as Ui Young’s colleague Jung Hyun Min with lively energy and openness, while Kim So Hye perfectly embodied Shim Sae Byeok, an awkward yet sincere rookie employee whose presence adds humor and heart to the workplace dynamic. Together, the ensemble created a vibrant atmosphere that reflects the drama’s promise of balancing lighthearted fun with emotional depth.
The production team expressed confidence in the project, stating: “From the very first reading, the actors showed perfect chemistry, proving they had put a lot of thought into their respective characters. The drama will address the dating concerns of modern people through a lighthearted yet deeply relatable story. We ask for your interest and support.”
With its relatable premise, strong cast, and engaging script, Efficient Dating for Singles is shaping up to be one of JTBC’s most anticipated romantic dramas of 2026. The series will premiere on February 28, 2026, inviting viewers to laugh, reflect, and perhaps even see their own dating experiences mirrored on screen.
