Lee Je hoon and Ha Young’s Reasonable Odds Continues Production Amidst Family History Controversy

SBS has officially released an initial statement regarding its upcoming legal comedy-drama Reasonable Odds (scheduled for a 2027 broadcast) following a recent public controversy involving lead actress Ha Young.

The legal drama—starring Lee Je hoon alongside Ha Young—follows Kwon Baek, a former lawyer turned office manager who leads a ragtag law firm as they turn seemingly impossible cases into guaranteed victories using unorthodox methods.

Ancestral Records Controversy and Agency Clarification

The discussion began after Ha Young‘s appearance on KBS2’s Problem Child in House on August 7, where she mentioned her family’s four-generation medical background, sharing that her great-grandfather learned Western medicine in Japan and became one of the early doctors in Hanyang.

Online discussions subsequently identified her great-grandfather as Ahn Sang ho. Concerns were raised regarding historic documents listing Ahn Sang ho as a committee member of the Taisho Mutual Friendship Association (Daejeong Chinmokhoe) in 1916.

While Ha Young’s agency, Bisters Entertainment, initially denied the historical involvement allegations, they issued an updated statement on August 11 following further verification:

“Upon additional verification, we confirmed the existence of records showing that her great-grandfather Ahn Sang-ho was listed as a committee member of the Taisho Mutual Friendship Association in 1916. We sincerely apologize for causing confusion by hastily responding ‘groundless’ without sufficient verification.”

The agency added that Ha Young’s comments on air were made while responding to questions regarding her family’s medical career and expressed that the actress feels deeply burdened by the situation.

Despite the emerging public discussion, production on The Long Shot Trial continued as scheduled on August 11, with Ha Young attending the set to complete her assigned scenes. Filming for the project is scheduled to run through September.

Regarding the production status, an SBS official stated to Xports News:

“‘Reasonable Odds’ has already completed a significant portion of filming, though we ask for understanding that it is difficult to specify exact progress percentages. We are aware of the matter regarding Ha Young and are closely observing the situation as it develops. We will share further updates if anything is finalized.”

In the drama, Lee Je hoon plays Kwon Baek, while Ha Young takes on the role of rookie attorney Yeo Shim hee.
