The “Queen of Versatility” is back! On April 20, the cast and crew of tvN’s highly anticipated weekend drama Filing For Love gathered for an online production showcase. Shin Hae-sun, fresh off the global success of the Netflix thriller Lady Dua, opened up about her 180-degree transformation into the charismatic yet “eccentric” audit chief, Joo In-ah.
The Great Genre Shift: Leaving “Lady Dua” Behind
After dominating global charts with the dark and heavy atmosphere of Lady Dua, Shin Hae-sun admitted she was looking for an emotional palette cleanser.
“To be honest, I loved my previous work, but the genre was very dark,” Shin revealed. “Personally and professionally, I wanted to shake off that heavy feeling. I was looking for something bright and light, and that’s when Filing For Love came to me at the perfect time.”
Meet the Cast: A Romantic Audit in “Filing For Love”
Filing For Love follows the high-tension, close-contact romance between:
- Joo In-ah (Shin Hae-sun): A charismatic Audit Chief who hides a deep secret and is often called a “total psycho” or “workaholic” by her subordinates.
- Noh Ki-jun (Gong Myung): The ace of the audit office who finds himself demoted to the “Public Morals” (PM) squad after an unexpected incident.
During the showcase, Shin Hae-sun defended her “tough” character, noting that while staff members find In-ah scary, she actually has a soft side. “In-ah says things that are technically correct, but people get hurt. I found myself feeling bad for her because she was just being honest!” she joked.
A Powerhouse Creative Team
The series is backed by a “Rom-Com Dream Team.” Director Lee Soo-hyun (The Spiteful Black Dragon) joins forces with writer Yeo Eun-ho (Crash Course in Romance). Adding even more prestige, the legendary Yang Hee-seung (creator of Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo and Familiar Wife) participated as a creator, ensuring the script hits all the right emotional notes.
