Disney Plus has officially confirmed the production of its latest blockbuster original, and the scale is absolutely massive. An elite assembly of South Korean stars is coming together to bring Keigo Higashino’s legendary bestseller, The Miracles of the Namiya General Store, to life.
With over 13 million copies sold worldwide, this timeless story is finally getting a high budget K drama makeover, promising a blend of fantasy, mystery, and heart wrenching human connections.
A Multiverse of Stars in The Miracles of the Namiya General Store
The casting for this project is nothing short of a miracle itself. Veteran powerhouse Ryu Seung ryong takes on the pivotal role of Go Min jung, the wise and gentle owner of the Namiya General Store.
The story kicks off when a trio of petty thieves—played by rising stars Kang You seok, Park Jung woo, and Kim Sung jung—hide out in the long abandoned shop. They soon discover a mysterious link to the past when letters seeking advice begin to drop through the mail slot from 40 years ago.
Joining this incredible journey are some of the biggest names in the industry:
- The Leads: Kim Hye yoon, Moon Sang min, Lee Chae min, and Yoon Kyung ho.

The series officially began filming on April 14 and is currently deep in production. While the wait might feel long, The Miracles of the Namiya General Store is aiming for a grand global premiere exclusively on Disney Plus in 2027.
