Imlie 7th April : Imlie Rebels Against Reddy’s ; Will Surya Support Her ?
Indira calls Panditji and decides to rename Imlie post marriage as per family’s tradition and asks Surya to choose a name. Imlie refuses. Indira says in their family, a new bride has to change her name post-marriage; her name was Lavanya before marriage, Nirmala was Padma, and Hemalatha was Chanda. Hemalatha says she likes her new name and says Surya will select a good name for Imlie. Imlie says if such traditions are followed, then sati system wouldn’t have been abolished from the system; she likes her name and is very famous in her village, each girl has her own identity which can’t be changed.
She asks Mahesh what was his name before marriage. Mahesh asks why would he change his name. Imlie says a girl’s name is her identity which can’t be changed. Nirmala asks why is she creating so much issue just to change her name. Indira says there shouldn’t be any problem in it. Imlie says she will not change her identity. Anjali says she doesn’t have any problem changing her identity post-marriage. Indira praises her and says she is glad to know that girls like Anjali still exist who wants to adopt family traditions. Imlie gives a long speech on the her identity and requests Indira not to change her identity. Indira says enough of her drama and says her name will be changed for sure.
Surya says as she wishes and asks Panditji which letter shall he choose. Panditji says except I as it clashes with Indira’s name and there would be conflicts between MIL and DIL. Surya asks if Y is fine. Panditji says yes. Surya says then he will call Imlie as Yamlie from hereon. Indira gets angry on Surya for supporting Imlie and says years ago, a new DIL tried to changed their family tradition and then Surya knows what had happened, recalling the incident. She says she has turned stone now and her decision will not change. Imlie asks what had happened years ago that she is so upset. Indira gets angry on her and locks herself in her room. Surya walks behind her and pleads to open the door. Anjali tells Surya that she already told him that Imlie is different and will not follow family tradition, she left her job for the family and can follow the tradition, he should leave Imlie and marry her instead, etc. Surya shouts at her and walks away.
Surya then confronts Imlie for questioning Indira and says if she had kept her mouth shut, he would have convinced Indira not to change Imlie’s name, but Imlie just wants to create drama and oppose people’s decisions. Imlie asks what is wrong if she wants to know what had happened in this house. Surya walks away. Anjali walks to her and describes how Indira’s son had a love marriage with Urvashi and brought her home, how Urvashi refused to follow family tradition and refused to leave her job, how Indira’s husband had set a rule that family’s women will not work outside the house, Urvashi fell in her colleague’s love and betrayed Raman, Rama committed suicide after learning about, Indira shattered after her son’s death and adopted Surya as her son, she doesn’t want to compromise on family traditions now.
Malti and Nirmala visit Raghu in jail and request him to reveal why Surya married Imlie. Raghu recalls informing Surya that Agastya died because of confused identity as Surya’s enemies killed him confusing him as Surya; he says he knows the reason behind this. Tripathi hears their conversation and informs Surya. Imlie tells Anjali that Indira shouldn’t punish all DILs for Urvashi’s mistake and generalize all DILs. She questions Anjali for trying to change her own identity and gives a long speech on what it means to lose one’s identity. Anjali says Imlie is unfit for this family and should leave.
