Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai 17th May : Abhira Heartbroken !
The episode begins with Ruhi rushing to express her gratitude to Vidya. Vidya, however, insists that a daughter doesn’t need to thank her mother. She admits that she was initially taken aback when Ruhi confessed her feelings for Armaan, but upon reflection, she believes that Ruhi is the right match for him. Ruhi embraces and thanks her, but questions why Vidya didn’t inform Dadi about her past relationship with Armaan. Vidya explains that Armaan had given up his love for Rohit, a sacrifice that only she could comprehend. She didn’t want Ruhi to be perceived negatively by the rest of the family. Ruhi expresses her gratitude once more. Meanwhile, Abhira is haunted by Ruhi’s words and breaks down in tears as Ruhi joyfully dances.
A stranger requests a ride from Armaan, who engages in conversation with him. The man reveals that his wife also attends the same college and recognizes Armaan as Abhira’s husband. Ruhi, unable to find Armaan, decides to personally deliver the good news to him. She picks up a toy to discard, declaring that she no longer fears anything and that their relationship is unbreakable.
Abhira arrives at the college, visibly distraught. Her friend encourages her to join them, but Abhira is lost in her thoughts, recalling Vidya’s words. She remains silent, attempting to concentrate on her exam and forget everything else. However, she finds herself losing focus again. She mistakenly writes the wrong name and requests an extra sheet, prompting laughter from her classmates. The teacher warns her not to repeat the mistake.
Abhira wonders why she can’t remember anything and hallucinates Abhira and Ruhi ridiculing her. She covers her ears, denying the reality of her imagination. She looks around, noticing Armaan, who asserts that Abhira will complete her exam and then his promise will be fulfilled. He learns that Abhira has left the exam.
The family discusses the prospect of Armaan and Ruhi’s marriage. While Madhav and Sanjay oppose the idea, suggesting that Ruhi should marry into another family, Kajal argues that Armaan and Ruhi are a good match. Manisha disagrees. The family continues to debate until Dadi requests time to think.
Abhira retreats to the arts room, where she breaks down in tears. She paints a canvas, lamenting that she has ruined everything for love. She laughs bitterly, acknowledging that Armaan doesn’t love her, that he despises her, and that the entire family hates her. She questions why she can’t control herself. Armaan finds her and questions why she isn’t in the exam hall. He reminds her that he fought with his family for her exams, and yet she abandoned the exams to come here. He urges her to return to her classroom.
Abhira declares that she has released him from his responsibility. He retorts that she doesn’t have the authority to do so. She insists that he should focus on his impending marriage to Ruhi. Armaan is taken aback.
They engage in a heated argument. She releases him from his responsibility and its associated burden before leaving. He is left to ponder her words. The man informs her that he can’t allow her to sit for the exam. Armaan steps in to defend her, but Abhira rejects his help. She suggests that the man can verify her claim by checking the CCTV footage, asserting that she didn’t leave to check the answers and that she doesn’t need anyone’s assistance. The man agrees, acknowledging her as a good student and promising to check the CCTV footage later. She thanks him. Upon seeing Armaan, Abhira tears up an answer sheet.
In the next episode, Armaan announces that he is marrying Ruhi. Abhira removes her mangalsutra, congratulates him, and walks away.
